Onomatopoeia

The photo shows a street view of Vientiane, Laos. What particularly catches one's eye in Vientiane was a lot of tuk-tuks. Tuk-tuk is a motor vehicle and it has been giving a wide variety of names to describe it. Someone calls it tuk-tuk; it's an onomatopoeic word coz when the vehicle runs, it makes funny sound tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk. Someone calls it three-wheeler; coz the vehicle has three wheels. Someone calls it auto rickshaw; coz the vehicle is a car that runs on a motor. I'd rather call the vehicle tuk-tuk. That explains a lot.
