I took this picture somewhere in between Lumbini and Pokhara, Nepal. I hired a car in the capital Kathmandu and headed to Pokhara via Chitwan National Park and Lumbini. Some parts of the way was unsurfaced exactly like the photo shows, so from my point of view, people need to allow enough time for traveling around Nepal by a land route. I planned to enjoy an elephant back safari in Chitwan and stay there for a night, but I needed to refine my plan. I ran way behind schedule due to damaged roads and landslides. Fortunately, I had enough water, though. I ended up decided to stay in Chitwan one more night, then I was able to enjoy the activities a lot more than my expectations.
