I took this photo from my hotel on the Strand in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka in October 2005. I went there to celebrate my birthday. I returned to Unawatuna five years later in November. Compare to the photos which I took in 2005, the view of Unawatuna were totally different in 2010. The problem is the notorious beach erosion. The beach was being eaten away and there were walls between the Indian Ocean and the strand. The rock wall like the photo shows was no longer able to serve the purpose like it used to. It is often said that actions speak louder than words, but in this case, I don't know what I can do to stop the beach erosion.
