Som Tam Pu @ Bang Saen Beach

The photo shows Som Tam Pu (Thai: ส้มตำปู). It's kind of like a spicy green papaya salad with some small salted crabs. Pu (Thai: ปู) means crab in English, so there are many kind of Som Tam using another ingredients. The northeast religion of Thailand is called Isan (or sometimes it's spelled Isaan, Thai: อีสาน) and has a variety of popular spicy Thai cuisine. Yep, Som Tam is one of them. I took this dish on Bang Saen Beach (Thai: หาดบางแสน). It's in Chonburi (Thai: ชลบุรี) province, so is not too far from Bangkok. A very popular holiday beach for Thai locals.
